Dealing with low moods, anxiety and depression
This month's feature is about Anxiety and Depression
Stress and unresolved psychological trauma may cause more harmful bacteria than helpful bacteria in the gut. Conversely, this imbalance may activate stress responses that promote inflammion and other disease processes. Chronic stress may impair communication along the gut-brain axis and is implicated in both psychiatric and GI-related disorders such as IBD.
Sometimes our mood and lack of motivation will stop us from trying or starting new projects. So how do we deal with it? It of course depends on the cause but here are some quick tips:
A call to the Doctor can put you in touch with an organisation called 'Talkworks' which is an organisation that helps a person to identify what they are feeling and why and most importantly how to change it.
Having practiced mindfulness for some time, I have personally found that sometimes it is good just to sit with that feeling of unease without trying to change it. Rather than trying to distract ourselves with TV, food or activities. In ignoring our emotions we are doing ourselves a disservice. Where does this emotion go?
Emotion is just energy....energy in motion. Energy is supposed to move by its very nature. If we don't allow it to move by expressing it in some way then it will get 'stuck' and cause blockages in our outer bodies, the ones we can't see which are also known as our energy bodies or auric field. Eventually leading to some form of disorder or disease.
Real and lasting health is about honouring when we aren't feeling good, as well as when we are.
The key is to give ourselves enough space to recognise our needs. Perhaps we need a rest, some company or a change of some sort?
Registered Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and help us to understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health issues, giving you the tools to help yourself.
